Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I have been appointed to serve Ukmerge UMC since January 31, 2010. God has been blessing this time in many ways. But we still have a hope, therefore we cannot stop thinking, that God will continue to bless us in future as well, because Apostle Paul writes: „And you, brothers, do not stop doing good“.

The congregation of UMC in Ukmerge is not very large, but it is very ative-they do not only come to church, but actively participate in the ministries behind the walls of the church. Every Tuesday at 7 PM the adults come to Bible Studies and every last Tuesday of the month we celebrate the Holy Supper. Veronika meets every person with hospitality, she always gives people a ride in her car and makes wonderful meals.

This year we had a challenge as well, since our Sunday school for children finished its work. The reason of the closure was the changes of the teacher and the pastor and they stopped coming to church. It was very sad, but God takes away in one place and gives in another place. Since November we have started new meetings for young people. Now from 5 to 6 girls come to church and their leader  Aušrinė teaches them the Bible and various handcrafts and organist Greta teaches them different songs.

This year God has been blessing our ministries outside the church. In spring we visited old people‘s nursing home in Želva. We brought gifts and warm words to the old people.  After the meeting we realized, that actually the greatest gift for the old ones was our word and our attention. Also, at the beginning of this autumn, after we had received the clothes, provided by some charity organizations, we shared them with Ukmergė people, the Children Home of Ukmergė, the old people’s nursing home in Želva, Vilnius UMC, Pilviškiai UMC. We are thankful to Rev. Walla for this charity shipment. We were also impatiently waiting for Christmas gifts for children from Sweden, which also had been taken care of by Rev. Walla. Our women took part in the activities, organized by the District. Five women participated in the seminar for women under the title “We are one in the Spirit”, which was held in Šventoji. It was a wonderful time of sharing with other women, from other churches of  UMCL , listening to interesting lectures.

Ukmergė UMC feels God’s blessing and guidance, therefore we all thank Him for that.
