A Seminar For Women Aims to Educate, Empower A seminar for women of Lithuanian United Methodist Church jointly organized by LUMC and partners from Sweden, Latvia and United States will be held at a wellness center „Energetikas“  in Šventoji, Lithuania on September 24-26, 2010. The theme of the seminar is „We Are One In The Spirit.“             The event will touch on many of the social issues that are pertinent to women‘s lives: inner healing, addiction and family, domestic violence, white slavery and others. The purpose of this seminar is to educate women on social issues and to empower them to be agents of change in their churches and communities. Since most of the women come from the regions where the network of social services is underdevelopped and the information on these topics is scarce, the hope is that upon coming back the partcipants of the seminar can also become informal peer educators. The presenters at the seminar include counselors, ministers and social workers from Lithuania and abroad.             Approximately 100 women from LUMC and abroad are  to participate at the seminar . This is the first event of this kind or scale since the re-establishment of the United Methodist Church in Lithuania in 1996.             The cost of seminar is covered by partner churches of Lithuanian and Latvian UMCs, to whom we extend our gratitude.
