Biržai Church

All our members‘ hearts rejoice that there are some admirable things at Church, i.e. the programs that are being done. We are very grateful to God, that a lot of our brothers and sisters in the world love and don‘t forget us.
The Day Center
It‘s good to see children at Church – they are the future of our Church. Children (from 7 till 12 years old) and youth (from 13 till 16 years old) of different ages gather at Church after school every weekday, from 4 till 6 p.m. Children‘s leader Ausra Jurkeviciene together with the youth‘s leader Gintare Zemaityte prepare some warm food (soup, zeppelins or potato cake, pancakes and so on) and lead lessons. Now 18 children and 16 youngsters attend lessons.
Besides the led lessons at Church, children and youth have a possibility to go on excursions several times a year, for example, in February Oksana Pieciene, the coordinator for work with children, organized an excursion to Panevėžys: to glacial arena, cinema and swimming pool. And today children are still full of good impressions.
Also children and youth participate eagerly in the rehearsals of choir-bells, led by the musical leader Vaidota Diokteva, and later they delight the attendees of the Church with their celebratory programs.
They can improve on their knowledge and skills playing computer games or doing homework.
Bible study
Not only children and youth are active, but also senior members of the Church attend the Bible study every Tuesday. It‘s fun to learn together and to know the God‘s Word better, and after the lesson to partake of the brought food, drink coffee, talk and share the sweets and bitters of life.
Medical program
From June of the last year there is a surgery in the Church. Jelena Povilavičienė, the nurse of the general practice, sees all attendees: injects pharmaceuticals, sets an intravenous drip, measures the blood pressure, dresses a wound and so on. Also she visits the disabled patients at their places, and if it is needed, does the same procedures. People are very grateful for this support, because most of them live far from the hospital and health centre and being of elder age it isn‘t easy to walk far away...
Washing and shower programs
Also people are very grateful for the washing and shower program. People who live in the neighborhood still have no conveniences at their places, i.e. a bathroom or a washing-machine. During warm period most people have a bathe and launder in the lake, but what to do in winter?
That‘s why this program has become popular from the very beginning, and every month we receive more and more those who want to use it.
Chrysalis
On March 12 –15 we had a lot of guests. Our Church was chosen by the Chrysalis organizational group, and on those days there was a camp of youth‘s spiritual awakening. About 50 persons from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and USA stayed for four days at our Church. All were very busy, but I hope that those youngsters, for whom this camp was organized, had a good opportunity to strengthen spiritually and to grow their faith in Christ.
