Eiguliai Church

There are several services in the UMC in Eiguliai, which display love for God and neighbor – food packets, medical support and support with everyday food.

Food packets program is sponsored by the supporters from Norway. This program is applied to some members of the UMC in Eiguliai and some people who don‘t belong to the community.

 

Medical program is filled thanks to members of the community only. The Church has a special fund, where any person who has come to Worship can contribute to. The gathered money by the decision of the Council is given to those who present an application, that they aren’t able to buy the medicaments.

Love is displayed during Holy Worship, Bible study and youth‘s and women group‘s meetings, too. 

 

During this year the youth of the UMC in Eiguliai was at the cinema several times, and we played billiards, too. Also they helped seniors with pleasure to work with computers. Before summer the youth organized a party in the forest in Kacergine. All made different handiworks, amused, played and had tasty dinner. In the end of autumn they went to the Water Park in Druskininkai. 

In 2008 two persons joined in the community of Eiguliai, moving their memberships from other UMC in Lithuania.

In 2008 and in the beginning of 2009 a special love was spread, when the presents were given out in the UMC in Eiguliai, which were gotten thanks to Samaritans. We all have to thank people, who did all, that it would happen. Also I want to rejoice that the attendance grows over and over – it‘s a wonderful Lord‘s favor. In July the members of the UMC in Eiguliai took part in the Bible study for children and grown-ups, which was in the UMC in Kaunas (we thank guests from Italy). And there was a really wonderful experience, when most people of the community participated in the Ecumenical Worship, which was on September 11 in Siluva.

 

But we have some problems, too. The UMC in Eiguliai nestles in the leasehold premises, which are not fully fitted to people‘s gatherings. So in winter we have to overcome some challenges. Heating and hot water depend on electricity. When we had some problems for two weeks because there was no electricity, all people showed their strong faith participating in the worship during biting cold. Also we have some financial problems, because all money, contributed by our dear supporters, is being spent for the maintenance of the UMC in Eiguliai, i.e. for rent and rates, and sometimes there is a lack of money. So some things, such as the Sunday entertainment and cleaning of premises, are not supported at all. Almost all members of the community clean premises voluntarily according to schedule, also everyone brings some food for entertainment. And the community is more unified by all this.
