Youth Ministries

 

“Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8)

I as the member of United Methodist Church in Lithuania and the youth leader believe that Gods grace in different ways, but always active in our life. So I have hope that Gods grace was active this year in the young people life that was participated in the different events which were organized in our Church.

Conference in Estonia. April 24-27, I and three more young people from Lithuania had opportunity to participate in Youth leaders Conference in Estonia. Theme of that Conference was “Servant”. The initiative came from the UMC Europe youth council.

UMC Europe youth council. We are also the part of that council. At this moment the Chair   person Marija Kiveryte of youth committee is representative to this council. This year she participated in two Council meetings: one meeting in Switzerland September 29 – October 2 and in UMC council meeting in Italy in September 12 -17. Also she was elected as finances for the Europe youth council. I am glad that Marija was not afraid to take the responsibility.

UMC North Europe youth council. At this moment Marija Kiveryte also the representative to this Council. The meeting will be hold in Denmark in 28-30 of November.

Skype Conference. Because of new technology we had good opportunity more often to communicate and share our faith with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Latvia, Estonia and United States. This year I had participated in several Skype meetings talking about Wesley camp in Latvia and Baltic Chrysalis planning.

Chrysalis meeting. 15 of August in Birzai Church we had Chrysalis planning meeting. There were participated representative pastor Patrick Friday from GBGM, our brothers and sisters in Christ from Latvia and also the group from Lithuania. 28-30 of November in Birzai UMC we will have music seminar, Chrysalis board meeting and planning meeting. Baltic Boys Chrysalis No. 6 will be in March in Birzai.

Wesley camp in Latvia. Right now we can be glad with our relationship with UMC in Latvia. Our youth this summer were in Wesley camp for three times.

Quests. This year several partnership Churches groups visited our Church. (All of them had planed different activities with the youth).

Executive committee meeting. This year I had participated in ECM in Oslo, Norway two times. In this meeting we had planed the program of the Central Conference. CC will be held in Denmark in 19-22 of February of 2009.

LUMC youth committee. The youth committee met in 24 of May. This committee is created from one representative from each local Church, district youth leader and pastor. After local Churches Conferences youth committee will be renewed with new elected representatives.

Camping ministry. This summer we had two camps ”Fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5, 22-23). 18-20 in June for kids in Marijampole. There were 104 participants. 4-8 of August for the youth in Latvia. There were 78 participants. Some Churches also organize their own local camps for kids.

Confirmation. The 7^th of September in 2008 in Kaunas MC there were wonderful celebration: The first Confirmation after the Church was reestablished! There was confirmed the young girl name Ausrine.
